Accountant

As our Accountant, you'll keep the resort's finances accurate, compliant and well organised. You'll handle day-to-day accounting, reconciliations and month-end closing, and work closely with the Finance team and other departments to support sound financial decisions. This role suits a detail-focused professional who wants to grow a finance career in luxury hospitality in the Maldives.

1. Maintain the general ledger and post accurate journal entries
2. Prepare bank, credit card and balance sheet reconciliations
3. Process accounts payable and receivable, and follow up on outstanding balances
4. Support month-end and year-end closing and prepare financial reports
5. Verify invoices, purchase orders and supporting documents
6. Prepare and file T-GST, GST and other tax returns with MIRA on time
7. Help with payroll processing and staff-related deductions
8. Monitor cost control, budgets and variances, and report findings
9. Support internal and external audits with accurate records
10. Make sure finance policies, procedures and controls are followed

1. A degree or diploma in Accounting or Finance
2. At least 2 years of accounting experience, ideally in a hotel or resort
3. Strong knowledge of accounting principles and IFRS
4. Good understanding of Maldivian tax regulations (T-GST, GST and MIRA filings)
5. Advanced Excel skills
6. High accuracy and attention to detail
7. Able to meet deadlines and handle confidential information
8. Good communication skills in English

1. A professional qualification (ACCA, CA or CMA), or progress towards one
2. Experience with hotel systems such as Opera, Sun Systems, Micros or Materials Control
3. Previous experience in a luxury resort in the Maldives
4. Knowledge of payroll and pension (MRPS) processes
5. Experience with audits and financial reporting
